Ralph Haseltine 

Seit fünfzehn Jahren widmet sich der Künstler Ralph Haseltine der erotischen Photographie und nutzt in den vergangenen Jahren verstärkt die vielfältigen Möglichkeiten der digitalen Technik. Sein wahres Markenzeichen ist aber die Abbildung des kraftvoll Weiblichen an sich. Es fällt auf, daß seine Modelle einen kompletten Gegenentwurf zu dem magersüchtigen Frauentyp darstellen, der in der Werbeindustrie und der Presse nur allzu gern propagiert wird. Diese Einstellung entspricht auch eher unseren wahren Empfindungen, denn wir sprechen ja auch von der fleischlichen Lust, wenn wir Sexualität umschreiben. Eine verknöcherte Person, dagegen ist für uns der Inbegriff für eine ausgesprochene Lustfeindlichkeit. In diesem Sinne sind die Photographien von Ralph Haseltine, überzeugende Monumente der Wollust und puren Lebensfreude.

Shooting fine art photography for over 15 years, I began to work in digital exclusively for over 5 years now. It is my gut intuition that the photographer must first and foremost, fall somewhat in love with the subject and the setting. To truly get the erotic feel, the photographer needs to be in touch with the model, her feelings, what is going on around them, controlling the atmosphere and mood.
The model and photographer should be comfortable in the extreme with each other, as the photographer needs the model to "fall in love" with the camera, make love to it in certain circumstances. After all, it is the feeling between the photographer/artist and the model, which truly must transcend from the studio to the final project so that the viewer can grasp the energy of the shot.
Only then, can the two truly collaborate on something, which may withstand the test of time and bring forth to the viewer, that feeling which was portrayed from within the studio.
